These kids today and their music
I think I must be getting old. I have seen some band names recently that are simply pathetic. First, there was Architecture in Helsinki. Clearly not good, but I can see how it's somewhat edgy and avant garde.
But today I ran across Art in Manila. Are you kidding me? Did these guys go to the same learning annex class on How To Name Your Band Poorly? Or maybe they used the same online band name generator? I'm sure it's only a matter of time before four schmucks from Pittsburgh calling themselves Sculpture in Johannesburg will be profiled in the "up and coming" section of Rolling Stone.
The key to lasting success in the music industry is originality combined with talent. They're already failing on the former, which doesn't bode well for the latter.
